Prosecutors allege Bankman-Fried orchestrated one of the largest financial frauds in US history.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_5D5EF359-6108-28D6-2BF8-702A109C6849@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Salame, served as the chief executive of FTX and was a top lieutenant of Bankman-Fried, who is set to go to trial on<strong> <\/strong>October 2 facing numerous wire fraud and conspiracy charges. Bankman-Fried has pleaded not guilty to the charges.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_3935A670-AF02-3FA3-C1A2-702D76459FDD@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Salame\u2019s expected guilty plea is a reversal. His attorney had previously told prosecutors he would invoke his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination if called as a witness against Bankman-Fried at next month\u2019s trial, according to a court filing last month.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_14558620-7FFF-84EE-420E-7020D4A73E3F@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      A lawyer for Salame could not immediately be reached for comment.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_23FE6EFA-E519-B946-5804-7020D4AC3F09@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Three other insiders have already pleaded guilty and are cooperating with authorities against Bankman-Fried since the company collapsed and filed for bankruptcy court protection last November: Caroline Ellison, the former head of Alameda, Bankman-Fried\u2019s hedge fund; Gary Wang, co-founder of FTX and Nishad Singh, a former engineer at FTX.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_62E4D38C-30B4-D763-4B40-7020D4ADA5B4@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Prosecutors allege Bankman-Fried misused customer funds to make loans to Alameda, to fund venture investments and feed straw donors that were used to contribute to political campaigns, Republican and Democrat, to try to influence policy decisions impacting the crypto industry.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph_8A6CB5C2-E7E8-D8A7-FD56-702E036A784E@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Prosecutors have said Salame played a role in the alleged scheme involving political donations.
