{"id":50197,"date":"2023-11-24T18:13:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-24T18:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prosfunds.com\/markets\/crypto\/nansen-users-swamped-with-phishing-emails-after-data-leak\/"},"modified":"2023-11-24T18:13:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-24T18:13:01","slug":"nansen-users-swamped-with-phishing-emails-after-data-leak","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prosfunds.com\/?p=50197","title":{"rendered":"Nansen Users Swamped With Phishing Emails After Data Leak"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_136382\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-136382\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-136382\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Several users of the crypto analytics platform Nansen have reported receiving phishing emails from scammers after a data breach related to one of the firm\u2019s third-party vendors.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, crypto investigator Officer\u2019s Notes <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/officer_cia\/status\/1727870359477588319\">posted<\/a> on X to warn Nansen users of the scam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUsers have reported receiving phishing emails from fake @nansen_ai today\u2026 stay safe!\u201d Officer\u2019s Notes said.<\/p>\n<p>An attached screenshot showed that users who were sent the phishing emails were offered an \u201cexclusive opportunity\u201d to take part in a nonexistent \u201cNansen Airdrop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDear Nansen Explorer, Your account registered under the email address [censored email] is eligible to claim the Nansen Airdrop which is now live for the next 48 hours. This exclusive opportunity is available on a first-come, first-serve basis,\u201d the email read. <\/p>\n<p>The email further informed the recipients that, within the next 48 hours, they could supposedly claim a guaranteed allocated amount of counterfeit NANSEN tokens. The scammers included a link in the email, intending to redirect users to a potentially compromised website.<\/p>\n<p>Scammers are disseminating phishing emails through an email address seemingly registered on networkforgood.com, according to <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DeFiBuck\/status\/1727684272453251197?s=20\">reports<\/a> on X. At the time of writing, Nansen has not issued any public statements on the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Officer\u2019s Notes recommends reporting any suspected phishing links to databases like chainabuse.com, cryptoscamdb.org, and phishtank.org, which could help diminish the success rates of such attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Officer\u2019s Notes also said that user data from a previous third-party database leak in September might have been used to target Nansen users.<\/p>\n<p>Two months ago, a Nansen third-party vendor suffered a security breach, impacting nearly 7% of the system\u2019s users. Those affected by the breach reportedly had their email addresses and passwords exposed, and in several cases, their blockchain addresses were also compromised.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately after, Nansen stated its commitment to identifying and notifying those affected by the breach, urging them to change their passwords.
