{"id":47073,"date":"2023-11-13T05:09:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T05:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prosfunds.com\/markets\/crypto\/chinese-newlyweds-to-scoop-digital-yuan-giveaways\/"},"modified":"2023-11-13T05:09:54","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T05:09:54","slug":"chinese-newlyweds-to-scoop-digital-yuan-giveaways","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prosfunds.com\/?p=47073","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Newlyweds to Scoop Digital Yuan Giveaways"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130132\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130132\" style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130132\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Jenny\/Adobe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Chinese newly married couples stand to receive up to $715 worth of digital yuan tokens, discount vouchers, and coupons for tying the knot.<\/p>\n<p>Per the People\u2019s Daily and an explanatory post uploaded to Banibao, the incentive is the brainchild of Shenzhen\u2019s Yantian District, which will run the campaign from November 11 to the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Couples registering their marriages in the district in this period can register their eligibility via the \u201cLove Travel Yantian\u201d applet.<\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s applet is a mini-program developed in the WeChat ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>This allows couples to enter a lottery-type draw, where they can win various CBDC token prizes, as well as discount vouchers, and time-restricted digital yuan coupons.<\/p>\n<p>The district will give winning couples their coins or coupons in \u201clucky\u201d red digital envelopes.<\/p>\n<p>To enter, couples must have active Agricultural Bank of China digital yuan wallets.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, Chinese wedding guests give couples cash gifts in envelopes.<\/p>\n<p>The district noted that it had created \u201cspecially customized digital RMB wedding gift packages and special wedding special spending coupons\u201d for the event.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130133\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130133\" style=\"width: 763px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130133\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A couple at a public wedding ceremony and digital yuan promotion event organized by the city of Chengdu in 2022. (Source: Chengdu Weibo\/Weibo\/Screenshot)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Why Are Chinese Newlyweds Getting Digital Yuan Handouts?<\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"replacer\"><\/span><br \/>The district\u2019s move is part of its latest drive to encourage more of its citizens to wed, with the number of marriages plummeting in China.<\/p>\n<p>Yantian launched its drive by publicly hosting a \u201ccollective wedding\u201d of 11 couples at an outdoor ceremony held on November 11.<\/p>\n<p>The Yantian District event is not China\u2019s first attempt to blend wedding incentives and digital yuan adoption drives.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the city of Chengdu launched a digital yuan-themed wedding promotion event on May 20, China\u2019s equivalent to Valentine\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>The city also marked the event with a \u201ccollective\u201d wedding ceremony that involved eight couples tying the knot at the Hejiangting Marriage Registration Office.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_130134\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-130134\" style=\"width: 933px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><noscript><\/noscript><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-130134\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Eight couples at a public wedding ceremony and digital yuan promotion event in Chengdu last year.
