Her attorney argued in Thursday\u2019s filing that forcing her to testify next week presents an \u201cundue hardship\u201d \u2013 in part because it\u2019s in the middle of a school week.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clohvbr1500073b6iprak3yaa@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      \u201cMs. Trump, who resides in Florida with her three minor children, will suffer undue hardship if a stay is denied and she is required to testify at trial in New York in the middle of a school week, in a case she has already been dismissed from, before her appeal is heard,\u201d her appeal stated.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clohvbr1500083b6i7glvz9g1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      At the end of the filing, Ivanka Trump\u2019s attorney asked the appeals court to stay the ruling requiring her testimony as well as a \u201cstay of the trial.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clohvbr1500093b6irl4bgavf@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      Her attorney has argued that the New York civil court has no jurisdiction to compel her testimony because she has not lived or worked in New York since 2017 and she is no longer a co-defendant in the case.\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clohvbr15000a3b6i2479r0ze@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n      In June, a New York appeals court\u00a0dismissed\u00a0Ivanka\u00a0Trump\u00a0as a co-defendant, finding the\u00a0claims against\u00a0her were too old, because she was not part of an August 2021 agreement between New York Attorney General Letitia James\u2019 office and the Trump Organization to toll the statute of limitations.\n  <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Read the full article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/11\/02\/politics\/ivanka-trump-testimony-appeal-school-week\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ivanka Trump on Thursday filed an appeal to block a judge\u2019s order for her to testify in her father\u2019s civil fraud trial until an appeal can be heard by the New York appellate court.
