\n Fox News\u00a0is showing its true colors, yet again.\n <\/p>\n

\n The right-wing television network has remained entirely silent amid fierce backlash stemming from Islamophobic comments made on its top-rated show,\u00a0\u201cThe Five,\u201d\u00a0by one of its top hosts,\u00a0Jesse Watters.\n <\/p>\n

\n In an astonishing and ugly rant, Watters on Wednesday\u00a0said that<\/strong>\u00a0he was fed up with Arab Americans and the entire Muslim world. \u201cWe have had it with them,\u201d Watters declared during the diatribe, which aired during a segment about activists ripping down posts spotlighting Israeli hostages.\n <\/p>\n

\n The remarks earned Watters and Fox News another stinging rebuttal from the\u00a0White House, which called them a \u201csickening attack on the rights and dignity of their fellow Americans.\u201d The White House added that Fox News \u201cowes an apology to every single viewer.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n If you\u2019re waiting for an apology from Fox News, however, don\u2019t hold your breath (you should probably know this by now). As usual, Fox News hasn\u2019t said a word about the hateful rant that streamed out of a top host\u2019s mouth and into the homes of millions.\n <\/p>\n

\n And it\u2019s not the first time that Watters has made abhorrent comments since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out. In October,\u00a0Watters said<\/strong>, \u201cI don\u2019t like how people try to differentiate between the Palestinians and Hamas.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cTo me, I see people with guns. That\u2019s Hamas. The people without the guns are the Palestinians. They believe the same thing,\u201d Watters said at the time. \u201cThe Palestinians hire Hamas to run their government. You poll them; they all love killing Jews. It\u2019s in their charter. They say they believe in suicide bombings.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n At an actual news organization, and in the vast majority of corporate America, such comments would unquestionably be unacceptable. The host would almost certainly be publicly reprimanded, and an apology would immediately be issued \u2014 at the very least.\n <\/p>\n

\n But Fox News is much different. Its refusal to address the matter underscores once more that\u00a0Rupert Murdoch\u2019s\u00a0television arm is comfortable broadcasting hate to the masses.\u00a0Tucker Carlson\u00a0might be gone, but appalling comments like this still find their way to air \u2014 and the network turns a blind eye to it.\n <\/p>\n

\n It goes without saying that voicing hate \u2014\u00a0and profiting from it\u00a0<\/em>\u2014 is a reprehensible act. But in the charged environment we now find ourselves in, where hate against Muslim Americans is surging alongside anti-Semitism, it is particularly irresponsible and repugnant.\n <\/p>\n

\n Stamping out bigotry from the public discourse should be everyone\u2019s mission. For some, however, injecting intolerance into the conversation seems to be the modus operandi.\n <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
