\n The first vote concerning Rep. Jim Jordan\u2019s bid to become the next speaker of the House not only fell short on Tuesday, it was, in the words of one ally of the Ohio Republican, \u201cmuch worse than we expected.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Twenty Republicans voted against Jordan\u2019s candidacy, far more than the handful he could afford to lose given the party\u2019s narrow majority in Congress.\n <\/p>\n

\n These are the House Republicans who voted against Jordan:\n <\/p>\n

\n 1. Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska voted for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy\n <\/p>\n

\n 2. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon voted for McCarthy\n <\/p>\n

\n 3. Rep. Anthony D\u2019Esposito of New York voted for former Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York\n <\/p>\n

\n 4. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida voted for Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana\n <\/p>\n

\n 5. Rep. Jake Ellzey of Texas voted for Rep. Mike Garcia of California\n <\/p>\n

\n 6. Rep. Andrew Garbarino of New York voted for Zeldin\n <\/p>\n

\n 7. Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida voted for McCarthy\n <\/p>\n

\n 8. Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas voted for Scalise\n <\/p>\n

\n 9. Rep. Kay Granger of Texas voted for Scalise\n <\/p>\n

\n 10. Rep. Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania voted for Scalise\n <\/p>\n

\n 11. Rep. Jennifer Kiggans of Virginia voted for McCarthy\n <\/p>\n

\n 12. Rep. Nick LaLota of New York voted for Zeldin\n <\/p>\n

\n 13. Rep. Mike Lawler of New York voted for McCarthy\n <\/p>\n
